About Jayne.....

It all began in 1980, when Jayne's granddaddy, the late Dick Hubbard, decided to learn to clog...at 65 years young! He in turn taught his grandkids. This was when Jayne's passion for clogging was born. Jayne has been performing, choreographing, teaching and directing various clogging groups ever since. Click here for Jayne's credentials.

A State Champion, National Champion and America's Clogging Hall of Fame Champion clogdancer, Jayne has guided her teams to hundreds of awards, including the North Carolina State Fair Folk Festival "Smokehouse Appalachian Freestyle Team" Award.

Jayne's clogging accomplishments have been recognized by her selection to the National Clogging and Hoedown Council's All-Star Clogging Team, as well as the America's Clogging Hall of Fame All-American Clogging Team. Jayne's local newspaper, the Wilson Daily Times, recently featured her in their "Neighbors" column. Click here to read the article.

In addition to teaching clogging locally through Wilson Parks and Recreation, Jayne teaches at dance camps and clogging workshops throughout the United States and Germany, her most recent international teach being at the Dragon Rock Cloggers workshop in Bonn, Germany and the 48th Annual E.C.T.A. Clogging, Square, Round and Contra Dance Convention in Darmstadt, Germany in June 2007.

Jayne also hosts Community Fun Dances.

ABOUT THE TEAM.......

The East Country Hoedowners offers something for everyone.  All dancers have the opportunity to be a part of our clogging team.  Dancers meet regularly for instruction in all aspects of clogdancing, including traditional southern Appalachian clogging figures and routines.  For the most part, we are a recreational team.  However, if you are interested in the competition side of clogging, there is opportunity for that as well.  Whether you wish to clog just for fun, want to learn something new, would like to clog on a team or want to compete in front of judges...East Country Hoedowners is the team for you!

We travel throughout the state performing and competing at fairs, festivals and all sorts of events.  Our emphasis is on having FUN while promoting and preserving the traditional heritage of southern Appalachian mountain style clogging through music selection, choreography and presentation.

While our youthful high energy group provides foot-stomping, hand-clapping good entertainment, we also understand the importance of spreading the folk dance heritage through sharing.  Audiences not only enjoy the show, but have opportunities to participate themselves!
