How to Beat the Heat and Dress Like a Pro!
Beat the Heat
- If your hair is long enough, pull it back off your face and neck.
- Start the day drinking lots of water. Your muscles will absorb it for later use.
- Avoid sugary and carbonated drinks on performance day. They contribute to dehydration and the added sugars cause your energy level to plunge when they wear off.
- Drink part of a sports drink such as Gatorade or Powerade 30 minutes prior to performing so that the electrolytes and minerals have time to go to work in your body.
- Avoid consuming dairy products such as milk or ice cream before or right after a show.
- Bring cool water and/or a sports drink to sip on during breaks in the performance.
- Walk around after the performance to allow your body to cool down and slow down and help reduce the possibility of cramping or fainting.
- Avoid eating a heavy meal the last hour prior to performing.
- Think cool thoughts! Focus on how refreshing that cool drink you'll be getting after the show will be.
